You Have A Need, We Have Your Solution
First Aid/AED, BBP
COURSE RATIONALE
This course provides First
Aid, CPR/AED, BBP certified training for all those with a need for
such training to satisfy either government laws and regulations,
employment requirements, or a personal need in private settings.
This training
covers the initial care given to someone who is injured or suddenly
becomes ill by a First-Aid responder with little or no equipment. This
course is designed to provide the knowledge and skills needed to
respond confidently and effectively during an emergency medical event
by allowing the responder to act quickly in an attempt to provide
temporary life-sustaining treatment and establish relative stability
of a patient’s medical condition until advanced care is available.
This training is
designed for both the first time student and the previously certified
student requiring continuing refresher courses.
This course is also
designed for those requiring continuing training certified by the
Minnesota Private Detectives and Protective Agents Service Board.
COURSE FOCUS
The
life safety services and procedures described in this course are based
on the most current recommendations of responsible sources at the time
of presentation of this course. Periodic updates to this course
content will take place to assure that all procedures taught currently
and in the future meet the requirements of being
“practice-and-procedure current.”
This
course will be taught in two sections, cognitive (classroom training)
and psychomotor (hands–on practical applications of those things
taught in class). Each section will be graded separately, and
the successful student will have to acquire a minimum 80% grade on the
written test and a 100% grade on the practical exam. There will
be a minimum of two hours of class room instruction and testing and a
minimum of four hours of hands on training and testing. This
course could extend up to two more hours if needed but this is a
request for only six hours of continuing education credit.
INSTRUCTOR QUALIFICATIONS
This
course is based on the instructor’s numerous First Aid training
courses attended over the past fifty years including numerous hands-on
emergency medical response events including two years of Code Blue CPR
responses in two hospitals. In 1998 this instructor was trained
in first aid, CPR and Blood borne Pathogens at Mercy Hospital and
Unity Hospital where he served for two years. In that time frame
he administered CPR chest compressions to 25 patients assisting his
“Red Room” team members in the successful resuscitation of 12
patients. In May of 2001 this instructor successfully completed First
Responder training and certification based on American Heart
Association treatment recommendations while working at Minnesota
Life Insurance, in St. Paul, MN which expired in May of 2003. He
served as a Minnesota State Registered First Responder for two years.
In November 2005, as Director of Security for Burnsville Center, this
instructor successfully completed First Aid training and certification
based on American Heart Association treatment recommendations
which expired in November 2007. In April of 2012 this
instructor successfully completed First Aid, CPR/AED training and
certification based on American Heart Association treatment
recommendations which is currently active and expires in April 2014.
Most recently, in August of 2012, this instructor successfully
completed the Emergency Response Train-the-Trainer course based on
American Heart Association treatment recommendations taught
through EMS Safety Services, Inc., a nationally recognized First Aid
rescue training provider located in San Clemente, California.
Thus, this instructor is currently a Certified Emergency Response
Instructor, offering his clients training courses in First Aid,
CPR/AED and BBP. In addition, this instructor been a certified

exercises and projects. Students will be encouraged to speak
their mind and question the instructor as the need arises. Each
student is encouraged to take notes.
HOW THE STUDENT WILL BE
EVALUATED
The students will be evaluated by their
participation in the seminar and by the amount they contributed to
discussions and by general comments made during the presentations.
The evaluation will also include two exams, a cognitive training exam
and a psychomotor training exam. The cognitive, paper exam must
be passed by a score of 80% or better. The psychomotor or

weeks after his or her successful completion of the course. The
certificate of completion will indicate date of completion, hours of
attendance, specific seminars that have been successfully completed
and the name of the instructor who signed off on the student’s
successful completion of the course requirements. The students
will each be given a wallet sized card to carry that indicates that
they successfully completed First Aid, CPR /AED and BBP training.
